Our Philosophy
There's something about a vintage Land Rover that has always inspired us. Its unmistakable design, honest materials, mechanical simplicity, and the connection it creates between driver and machine.
At HIMALAYA, our mission is to preserve that experience while thoughtfully engineering these vehicles for the way people want to use them today.
Every Build Begins With a Mission
We believe the right Land Rover is defined by how its owner intends to use it. For some, that means faithfully restoring an original 2.25-liter petrol engine and preserving the driving experience as it was decades ago. For others, it means enhancing an existing vehicle with a more capable drivetrain, or completely reimagining one with a modern powertrain, custom chassis, suspension, and braking systems.
There is no single approach. Every decision begins with understanding the client and the vehicle.
Drivability. Serviceability. The Analog Experience
Drivability and serviceability are fundamental to everything we build.
A Land Rover should inspire confidence behind the wheel, be enjoyable to drive, and remain practical to maintain. We believe thoughtful engineering and proven mechanical systems are essential to keeping these vehicles on the road for generations.
Equally important is what we choose to preserve.
The tactile experience of an early Land Rover is unlike anything found in most modern vehicles. Painted aluminum. Metal switches. Mechanical controls. The sounds, sensations, and imperfections that remind you you're operating a machine.
These details aren't inconveniences to engineer away. They're part of what makes the experience special.
We modernize the things you rely on while preserving and elevating the things that connect you to these iconic vehicles.
The People Behind HIMALAYA
Every HIMALAYA is built by a dedicated team of craftsmen in Charleston, South Carolina, combining traditional skills with thoughtful engineering and an enduring respect for the original Land Rover.
Behind every finished vehicle are thousands of hours of dedicated work. From fabrication and mechanical assembly to electrical, paint, upholstery, and final detailing, each discipline contributes to the finished product.
We believe the people who build these vehicles are as important as the machines themselves. Their experience, ingenuity, and pride in their craft are what make HIMALAYA what it is.
We build these vehicles with the belief that they'll be driven, enjoyed, maintained, and eventually passed down to the next generation.
